Restylane

Restylane is an injectable skin filler used to fill lines, wrinkles and deeper folds such as those that run from the nose to the lips. It is also used to fill scars, restore lost volume to the face, enhance lips and facial contours.

Restylane is a non-animal filler, and does not require a patch test. Restylane is a clear gel containing hyaluronic acid, a substance which occurs naturally in the skin.

Restylane has full FDA approval and a low rate of allergic reactions, over 10 million treatments have been carried out using Restylane worldwide.

There are 4 different types of Restylane; Touch for fine lines and lines in delicate areas such as above the top lip and around eyes, Restylane for lines and wrinkles, Perlane for deeper lines and folds and facial sculpting,  Lipp for lip enhancement

Before treatment with Restylane, all clients have a full consultation and assessment and are advised on best treatment options and cost. A medical history is taken and consent form signed. Written information is given to take home. Initial treatment and consultation takes around 45 minutes, subsequent treatments take 15-30 minutes.

A numbing cream is used to alleviate discomfort, Perlane and Restylane are now available with a local anaesthetic agent in to further alleviate any discomfort. The gel is injected using a very fine needle and results are instant, however most clients report the true results are seen in about a week when any swelling has subsided and the filler has "settled"

Results last 6-12 months, little and often top up treatments are recommended to maintain results.

After effects are generally mild and resolve in 1-7 days. After effects may include swelling which is not always visible but clients may feel a little "puffy", redness, itching and pin prick bruising.

Treatment is not advised for pregnant or breast-feeding women, flying is not advised until any after effects have resolved.
